Rating Comments: Previously , Independent candidate John Turmel was a candidate in the October 26, 2020 federal by-election in the riding of York Centre.

He also ran in 2015 federal election in the riding of Brantford-Brant. Prior to that, he ran unsuccessfully in the Federal By-Election on November 17, 2014 in Whitby-Oshawa. He was also an Independent candidate in Federal By-Election on June 30, 2014 in Trinity-Spadina, but was not elected. His political beliefs are somewhat radical. He supports legalizing marijuana, the harmful gateway drug. According to wikipedia, he wants police/government to keep out of gambling, drugs, sex and 'rock and roll'. He has also said the Jesus did not come to bring salvation in the afterlife, but here on earth, and that Christ's primary message was about not charging interest on debts. In 2016, he ran for the Pauper Party in an Ontario provincial byelection in Whitby-Oshawa, but lost.
