In September 2023, MP Anthony Rota resigned from his position as Speaker of the House of Commons after mistakenly honouring in Parliament a Ukrainian veteran who was later revealed to be of a former Nazi soldier.

In September 2015, Rota told a pro-life constituent that he is “firmly pro-choice”. Rota's rating is also based on the fact that Trudeau's new candidate selection process, instituted May 7, 2014, forbids any pro-life Canadians from running as Liberal Party candidates. The only way they would be allowed to run, is if they promise to vote in favour of abortion whenever such legislation comes up.
