As a Liberal MP, McKay is required by party policy to vote in favour of the killing of preborn children. This policy was explicitly stated by Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau on June 18, 2014. When asked about Trudeau's pro-abortion edict, McKay gave no indication whatsoever that he would defy the party policy.

In March 2018, McKay was one of only two Liberal MPs to oppose, in principle, their own Party's despotic discrimination against organizations that refuse to sign a politically-correct "attestation" in support of abortion and homosexuality-transsexualism. Liberal Party policy also demands that this ideological litmus test be signed by all organizations applying for federal Summer Jobs Program funding grants, or else those grants would be denied. (See MP McKay's principled letter, criticizing Liberal coercion, in the Quotes tab.) Despite these misgivings, McKay had already abstained from voting on an Conservative Motion that might have curtailed the tyrannical attestation's overreach.

Although he recklessly voted in favour of legalizing assisted suicide in 2016, McKay abstained and eventually voted against the March 2021 passage of Bill C-7, which dramatically expanded the euthanasia killing regime in Canada, even extending it to people suffering from mental illness alone.

In June 2021, McKay disgracefully revealed himself to be an enemy of parental rights, and science, by voting to pass Bill C-6, legislation that will jail parents for up to 5 years if they dare to affirm their gender-confused child in their biological sex.
