On December 11, 2025, in a totally unexpected move, Conservative MP Michael Ma announced his departure from the Conservative caucus and crossed the floor to join Mark Carney's Liberal government.

Official Liberal Party of Canada policy is pro-abortion and pro-LGBT ideology. In fact, due to a candidate selection process initiated by Justin Trudeau on May 7, 2014 and continued by Mark Carney today, pro-life Canadians are forbidden from running as Liberal Party candidates.
